Interactive score estimate

Enter the details that match your circumstances.

Use the answer that you can support with documents. If you are unsure whether a point applies, select the no-points option and confirm the rule before submitting an EOI.

Human capital factors Maximum 69 points

Education, language, work experience, age and eligible Alberta family connection.

For a foreign credential, use the level supported by your ECA. AAIP awards points for the highest education only.
No points are awarded for secondary school or lower, regardless of location. A Canadian credential must be from a recognized institution. A lower Canadian credential does not add location points if your highest credential was completed outside Canada.
Use the lowest of listening, reading, writing and speaking, converted to CLB. AAIP requires at least CLB 4 in English or NCLC 4 in French across all four skills to submit a Worker EOI.
AAIP awards the higher general-language score from English or French.
Bilingual points are added to the higher English/French general-language score.
AAIP has separate stream-specific work-experience requirements.
If you have 6+ months in both Alberta and another province, select Alberta; AAIP awards the higher amount, not both.
Must be your parent, child or sibling, a Canadian citizen or permanent resident aged 18+, and living in Alberta. In-laws do not count.

Economic factors Maximum 31 points

Points relating to an Alberta job offer, job location and recognized professional or trade certification.

Stream-specific job-offer requirements still apply.
Examples include a Rural Renewal endorsement, a qualifying Tourism and Hospitality employer, or a qualifying law-enforcement employer. Check the current grid and stream rules.
Use the work location and confirm its official geographic category.
Both an Alberta job offer in the regulated occupation and recognized certification/licensing are required.
Information only: This free calculator runs in your browser and does not send or save your answers. It estimates points under the AAIP Worker EOI grid; it does not assess eligibility for the Alberta Opportunity, Alberta Express Entry, Rural Renewal or Tourism and Hospitality streams.
How to use this estimate

A points score is only one part of an AAIP decision.

The Worker EOI points grid is not a substitute for reviewing the eligibility criteria of the stream or pathway you may be invited to.

Which Alberta PNP program does this calculator cover?

It estimates the score on the AAIP Worker Expression of Interest points grid used for worker streams. It does not calculate entrepreneur-stream points or determine eligibility for a specific worker stream.

Is there a minimum score to submit a Worker EOI?

Alberta’s current worker-stream instructions say there is no minimum points score to submit a Worker EOI. You must still meet the eligibility requirements for at least one AAIP worker stream and provide accurate information.

Does a higher score guarantee an invitation?

No. AAIP considers more than the score, including provincial labour-market needs, priorities, application volumes and available nominations. Some draws may target occupations or sectors regardless of a candidate’s score.

Does my work permit status, NOC, wage or employer industry add points?

No points are awarded directly for immigration status, federal Express Entry profile details, the job-offer NOC, employer NAICS, wage or hours. Alberta may consider this information when selecting candidates for draws.

How should I count my education and work experience?

Use the official points grid and current AAIP instructions. Alberta says education points are based on the highest credential only; foreign education should be assessed using an ECA for this purpose. Work experience must meet the applicable AAIP definition, and stream-specific requirements are separate from the score.

Where can I verify the current rules?

Always check Alberta’s official points grid, worker-stream application instructions, FAQ and processing information before submitting or updating an EOI.
